Arc House Ministry is a group of woman who have dedicated time each month to the women involved in the Arc House program here in Madison. Arc House is a halfway house for women who seek to recover from addiction and return to society with a sense of dignity and accomplishment in completing the four-month program.
Arc House Ministry began in December of 2000 when a group of women headed out to the Arc House with a suitcase, boxes of supplies and a little bit of a Christmas activity of baking, rubber stamping cards, devotions and conversation. The afternoon ended with hugs and great appreciation for the challenges the women face. The monthly visits have continued with rubber stamping cards, snacks and devotion/prayer time. A monthly Bible study was also added at the request of the women at the House.
Our focus is to model Jesus' love for each woman as a person of immense worth and beauty. A quote from an ARC House graduate says it best: "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. While living at ARC House, I had the opportunity to meet the beautiful women from New Life Church with their ministry they bought love, support and renewed my belief that God works through people."
In 2002 a prayer support group called the Arc Angels was added to the ministry to pray for specific requests of the women. The women are always amazed that total strangers would care and pray for their needs - it is truly an awesome gift to them and to those praying.
We are always looking for women to become involved, no special skills or requirements - just a loving heart, a listening ear and a sense of caring. There is great growth potential in this ministry and if you are feeling called to become involved in any way, please contact Holly Tunak.
