New to New Life?

Our Mission and Values

Ours is to “Value as God Values”

So that we might bring the “Kingdom to Community”

Therefore, we will…

“Cultivate” our relationship with God

“Emulate” the Life of Jesus

“Relate” to People of our Communities

Our Core Values

We believe that what follows are the essential values that God has instilled in the people gathering, called New Life. They are foundational to what we believe and do. We come to know ourselves as Christ knows us by “Loving God” “Loving People” “Building Christian Community” “Growing Spiritually” and “Sharing Christ” and through the excitement of our expanding faith, God rejoices.

  1. Loving God – we believe that, as Christ’s followers, we are continually encouraged into a profound experience and renewed understanding of the power of God’s love for us and the privilege of our love for God. We love God.  Scripture: Matthew 22:37 – You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
  2. Loving People – we believe that because of God’s eternal and essential love for us, we are moved to share the same love with others,. In doing so, God’s love for us becomes even more apparent. We love people.  Scripture: 1 John 4:7, 12 – Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. If we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
  3. Building Christian Community– we believe that, through the joy of discovering and using our spiritual gifts, we function as a unified community for the purpose of giving honor to God. We are a Christian community.  Scripture:  Romans 15:5-6 – May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus, so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  4. Growing Spiritually – we believe that we are called into a “transformational relationship” with our Lord. As we deepen our experience of God, becoming more spiritually mature, our lives are changed and we find ourselves living the way that God has always intended. We are spiritual beings.  Scripture: Colossians 3:15-16 – Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of the one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.  Let the word of God dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearFts to God.
  5. Sharing Jesus – we believe that our lives reflect to others the presence of God’s glorious spirit. We are living witnesses of the presence and power of Jesus. We share Jesus.  Scripture:  Matthew 5:16 – let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.   Matthew 28:18-20 – And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Our Goals

We fulfill God’s vision for us through our Mission and Goals

  1. By Intentional Disciple Making
  2. Through our Celebrations Together.
  3. As we strengthen our Familial Relationships

Most recognize something different about our congregation when they first come in. Some people really like it while others are pretty skeptical.  It’s the key to our success: Hospitality.

While most people think of hospitality as being nice to people to make them feel welcomed, we see it as much more than that.  Hospitality is to help people feel “at home”.  When new people walk in the doors of New Life, our anticipation is that they will have a visceral feeling that this is the place to be.

We want people to feel like they can belong here and we make every effort to help that be so.  At the same time, we also tell people that it’s a 50/50 proposition.  The congregation can provide the opportunities, but it is important for people to step into them.  The success of our congregation is dependent upon participation and not simply observation.

There is another depth to what happens at New Life when with regard to hospitality.  It’s called “Kingdom” depth.  It’s our hope that people will not only feel like this can be home.  We also anticipate that we are emulating the dynamic nature of God’s “Kingdom Presence”.  We hope that when people feel what’s different here, they will come to know it as a prelude to their participation what Jesus called, “The Kingdom of God” (God’s realm in and beyond this world).  Jesus said that the Kingdom of God is “at hand” (Mark 1).  The sensation that people feel at New Life is the Kingdom breaking in, in new ways, to their lives.

New Life Congregation is an invitation to the vitality of God’s Kingdom where people matter and their participation makes a difference not only for them, but also for the wider respects of God in our world.  People matter to God and one of the purposes of New Life is to give people the opportunities to matter.

There is vibrancy and celebration in all that we do at New Life.  People respect and admire each other.  We have each other’s back.  We allow the Spirit of God to work through us so that we recognize the identity we have and the opportunities that God has given us.

When once the invitation becomes somewhat familiar, there is a beckoning from God that we might come to profound knowledge of our spiritual selves.  We focus on Spiritual Formation (understanding and practicing how God is intentionally empowering us while breathing through us).  We look to know ourselves as God knows us and to live as God always has known we could.  The sermons, classes, and teachings offer insights into our souls and how God’s soul intimately connects with ours so that our lives are vibrant, good, and filled with significance.  At the same time, we become more and more aware of who God is and how God really operates.

At New Life, you will not find “Bible Study Sermons”.  Instead, they are messages that bring the creative God of the universe more to life.  They are prophetic sermons focusing on Gods great intentions for us and give practical information as to how to live good and glorious lives even as we face the occasional speed bumps and maneuver around them or work to shovel them away.   Scripture is vital for New Life.  It helps us understand God and ourselves in a dynamic relationship.

People of New Life are encouraged to live fully in their local communities participating in opportunities to make a positive difference.  We know that God empowers us and gives us these occasions.  We give our best to the incredible people and world that God has given us.

*Worship For Kids (First Sunday of every month at 9:15 a.m. October-May) – This joyous Worship celebration is geared towards the young and young at heart! Join our puppet friends for worship and celebration of Gods love.  We then head back into our Re-Creation Center for a fun group activity.

*Spirit Song Worship  (an occasional worship format) – This contemplative worship style is very prayer focused, free-form and allows us to quietly settle in to an awareness of Gods’ Presence as we acknowledge and celebrate who God is and what God is doing in our lives.   A small ensemble, keyboard driven, provides the musical foundation with both songs and hymns.

What you’ll find at all three Worship events is a message that is a “live life to the fullest as God intends” with real life applications and encouragement.-Never boring or preachy.

We have a particular focus on helping those who have felt challenged by previous church experiences or who have felt distanced from God to find something new.

New members are recognized at our New Member Celebration held once in the spring and once in the fall, but you can become a member at anytime. The dates of these celebrations are announced one month prior.
